For your breakfast I recommend Chilaquiles. This dish is prepared by cutting tortillas into little triangle forms (called totopos) which are then fried in oil. Then they are topped with either a green or a red salsa. If you don't like very spicy foods, just request a less spicy salsa for your plate. Next comes a layer of cooked shredded chicken, crème, fresh cheese, and onion. Finally, the most important part, the beans and the cooked eggs. Such a delicious way to start your day!
For a main meal especially during the weekends you will find northern Mexicans eating Carne Asada. This is perfectly seasoned and charcoal-grilled beef. It will be served with melted cheese, guacamole, and roasted potato. On the table for all to share will be salsa and tortillas. In some cases you might also be offered a polish sausage wrapped with bacon and melted cheese on the inside. Enjoy your meal with a fresh Mexican beer!
Finally, you must try some good authentic tacos! I would say anyplace in Mexico is a good place for tacos, they are so fresh, juicy and tasty! Whether you order steak, pork, or seafood tacos, they will come with a topping of salsa. If you are sensitive to spicy foods, you can request a less spicy salsa or just a very little bit of salsa. But for many people this extra "kick" is what adds to the pleasure of eating.
I hope you will enjoy every meal and have a wonderful time when you visit northern Mexico.
