At home we have plenty of makeup and personal care products that we love to use on a daily basis. But travel challenges us to pack only the bare essentials. Items in your carry-on bags must comply with the TSA’s liquid standards of less than 3 ounces. And you do not want to fill your checked luggage with too much, either. Keep weight restrictions in mind. And be sure to reserve some luggage space for the souvenirs you may want to buy and bring back with you.
So back to the question: what to pack? I asked six experienced female travel bloggers what they recommend when it comes to makeup and travel. I added my own suggestions as well. Read on!
Silvia Lawrence from Heart My Backpack: I always travel with a really good moisturizer, as I find travel can really take a toll on my skin. I swear by Benefiance Wrinkle Resist 24 night cream by Shiseido, which is pricey, but it always restores my skin during the night to make it super soft. I also bring a small bottle of Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Shampoo, as I tend to spend a lot of time in the sun while traveling, and that can result in my blonde hair turning a brassy yellow color. With this specialty shampoo, I can correct it.
Monica Houghton from FromHere to Sunday: My must-have travel toiletries include Basic Facial Cleansing Wipes from Target, travel-sized Sexy Hair Leave-In Conditioner Spray, Travel Smart by Conair, a set of travel-sized bottle containers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash, SpaLife Hydrating Facial Mask and travel-size BADgal Lash Mascara.
Marta Ostoja Kiedrzynska from Where Life is Great: My traveling makeup essentials include Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35, Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Mascara, Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Blush, Astor Perfect Stay Gloss-006 Fuchsia (it is the perfect color for my skin tone) and Nivea Lip Balm. My toiletry essentials include Olay Total Effects Featherweight Moisturizer, Laline New York Hand Cream, pure argon oil for my hair and Hawaiian Tropic Sunscreen. I’m addicted to the smell!
Heather Rader from Ohio Girl Travels: I try to travel as light as possible, so I only take the necessities when traveling. My favorite travel toiletry items include Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes, Coola Mineral Face Sunscreen SPF 30-Matte Tint, Luzern Force De Vie Face Moisturizer. It is expensive, but it keeps my skin moisturized and soft! I like EOS Lip Balm in Sweet Mint, travel-sized spray sunscreen and travel-sized hair conditioner. My makeup essentials include Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation, Estee Edit The Edgiest Mascara, Bare Minerals Moxie Lip Gloss and Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick in Dashing 206 when I want to brighten my face with red lips.
