Hello everyone, I am delighted to write this guest post to share my love of travel and photography with you! First of all, a brief introduction. I am Nicola, a native of Austria in Europe, I grew up in a small village called Alpbach in the Tyrol region. It is a beautiful little town with lots of history and traditions in a valley surrounded by mountains. During my childhood I also got to know Italy because my parents would take me on holidays to a little island near Venice called Albarella. Because of this, I have always felt a special bond with Italy.
When in Portugal, my favorite city is the capital, Lisbon. To me, it is one of the best cities to photograph. You have the mix of the old and the new, the morbid and the modern. Plus there is a glow to the natural light there. You will see some amazing architecture, such as the Maat, or the Vasco da Gama bridge. I have a thing for photographing bridges! The people of Lisbon are all very nice to visitors, and to top it off, the food is amazing!
This year we have a great schedule of destinations: Sri Lanka, Lisbon, Valencia, Myanmar, Tuscany, New York City, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The trips range in length from 3 days to 7 days to two weeks. I will lead each group to the best photo spots in each place where we will share techniques and inspiration! Even travel partners who are not photographers can enjoy these trips because of the beautiful views and the information we provide during our stay in each destination.
For myself, I like the Canon brand and am using the Canon 5D Mark III camera. This camera is not for everyone because it is really heavy, but I just love the quality of the images I get with it. It has a super fast autofocus. Even with a high ISO setting, the camera noise is quite low. As for lenses, my favorite one for architecture and landscape shots is the 16-35mm 2.8 lens. If you are reading this post and have questions about purchasing cameras and lenses, please feel free to contact me.
If you are new to photography, I do suggest that you learn just a little bit about the settings of your camera before joining any photo tour. And for those travelers who happen to be visiting Vienna anytime soon, I am offering photo courses which you can sign up for and take in person! For others, you can request an online "crash course" from me. Of course, during our photo trips I am around to answer all your questions and to give you lots of support.
